All the benefits of raw food!

Should I feed my dog raw food?

"Um, bacteria, salmonella… Aren't you afraid of giving that to your dog?"

"It's not balanced; they’re going to have deficiencies."

Why is raw food becoming so popular for dogs when you hear all sorts of things, many veterinarians are against it, and it often requires a freezer and more organization? Yet, as we can see, raw food is becoming increasingly popular. I'm telling you, it's not just a fad. In this video, I'll explain why it's becoming so popular. It's simple: people are seeing results. Their dogs are healthier.

If you don't already know me, my name is Karine Simard, and I'm a certified agronomist with the Ordre des agronomes du Québec. My job is to help dog owners provide their dogs with the best possible nutrition, so they can make informed choices and give their companions a longer, healthier life.

Today, I wanted to share with you the benefits of raw food.

Raw food, also known as BARF (Biologically appropriate raw food), is based on the idea of providing our dogs with a diet that closely resembles what they would eat in the wild. Did you know that dogs are carnivores? You can clearly see this when you look at their teeth. Raw food, which is primarily composed of meat, bones, and offal, is the most nutritious for them. This is why raw food offers so many benefits for dogs.

Let's review some of the benefits of a raw food diet for your dog:

1. Improved digestion

Raw food is easier to digest than kibble, resulting in less waste and stool for your dog. This puts less strain on the kidneys and promotes better gut health.

2. Reduced tartar and improved breath

Unlike kibble, raw food promotes less tartar buildup on a dog's teeth. This reduces the risk of gum issues and dental complications.

3. Softer and silkier coat

Thanks to the large amount of easily digestible protein in a raw diet, the dog's coat becomes softer and silkier in a short time.

4. Reduction in ear infections and itching

Raw food contains less sugar than kibble, which reduces the risk of irritations and infections in dogs, such as ear infections and itching.

5. Strengthening the immune system

The nutrients and enzymes preserved in raw food strengthen the dog's immune system, providing better defense against diseases and infections.

It's essential to emphasize that to reap these benefits, raw feeding must be done correctly, with a smooth transition and balanced portions. Choosing a high-quality raw food is also crucial to provide your dog with all the necessary nutrients.
